Overview Farm Gardens

Searching for a relaxed, pet-friendly farm stay? Look no further than Overview Farm – a working dairy farm set in the picturesque Bushman’s Nek Valley just 14km from Underberg. Sit in the beautiful garden watching Jersey cows grazing at the foot of the dramatic Southern Drakensberg, or keep an eye out for the reedbuck and otters that visit our two well-stocked trout dams. When you’re ready for more activity cast a line at the brown- and rainbow trout in the dams – and then release them to fight another day – take a walk to enjoy the majestic mountain scenery, head out to one of the nearby golf courses for a round or two, or go horse riding. After a busy day relax in front of your fireplace or out in the garden and enjoy the views towards Underberg and Garden Castle. There are a number of both easy and demanding outdoor walks, leading to outstanding views of the Drakensberg range from various sites. Bird lovers have the opportunity to view Cape vultures, fish eagles, cormorants and crowned cranes along with a host of smaller birds.
In summer the Amur falcons visit the area and can often be seen in the early morning and late afternoon. During both winter and summer an extensive variety of small and larger wildlife – porcupine, aardvark, jackal and reedbuck, among others – visit the farm. As this is a working farm the dairy cows can be seen moving to and from daily milking, and children wishing to view the milking can make arrangements to visit the dairy. If you visit during summer you’ll want to make use of our swimming pool which has a large, shallow step for little ones to play on with the area fenced off for safety. For those who enjoy cooler weather, the Drakensberg mountains usually have snow on them from July to September and the farm experiences occasional snow in winter. We have a number of self-catering accommodation options available, and groceries are available from Underberg, a 20-minute drive from the farm. Linen, a litre of farm milk and firewood are supplied upon guests’ arrival. Tony and Di welcome you to their little piece of heaven – Overview Farm – and wish you a pleasant and relaxing stay.
